Municipal Governance of Active Mobility

On November 27 and 28, 2024, the Polis Network annual conference took place in Karlsrude. The Project Group for Active Mobility presented a paper on “Bridging the gap: Assessing local governments competencies for effective active mobility policy delivery”.

The study was based on a questionnaire sent to the municipalities that are part of the Collaborative Network for Active Mobility, with the aim of getting to know the municipal governance of active mobility and identifying the most relevant needs and challenges.

From the results, it was possible to identify some key points, such as the diversity of municipal departments responsible for active mobility, the need for training on access to funding for planning walking and cycling infrastructure, as well as the collection of data and indicators.
