Polis 2024: Characterization of Municipal Governance

On November 27 and 28, 2024, the annual Polis 2024 conference was held in Karlsrude. The Project Group for Active Mobility attended and presented a study on “Bridging the gap: Assessing local governments competencies for effective active mobility policy delivery”.

This study was the result of a questionnaire sent to the municipalities that are part of the Collaborative Network for Active Mobility, with the aim of finding out about municipal governance of active mobility and identifying the most relevant needs and challenges.

From the results, it was possible to identify some key points, such as the diversity of municipal departments responsible for active mobility, as well as the need for training to focus on access to funding for infrastructure planning, pedestrian and cycling, and data collection.

See here for more details on the results of the questionnaire.
