According to the latest Eurostat data, Portugal is the biggest producer of bicycles in the European Union for the third year consecutive, with 2,7 million units produced.

In 2022, 14,7 million bicycles were produced in the EU, which represents a 10% increase in bicycle production compared to the previous year and a 29% increase over the course of a decade from 2012 to 2022.

The biggest producers are Romania with 2,6 million bicycles, Italy with 2,5 million, Germany with 1,7 million and Poland with 1,0 million.

Cycling fosters individual health and well-being and, by substituting for private car use, contributes to the reduction of air pollution. It’s a sustainable, simple, affordable, reliable, clean, ecological and health-conscious mode of transport.
