In October 2023, Portugal attended the 23rd Walk21 Conference, held in Kigali, to witness the world’s largest conference dedicated to pedestrian mobility, which will take place in Lisbon in October 2024.

It will bring together specialists, technicians and experts from around the world who are dedicated to and studying the subject. This event will share knowledge on how to develop and implement walking policies and programs that deliver safer pedestrian communities and streets, broader community participation and increased appreciation of pedestrian mobility.

We will discuss how pedestrian mobility policies and projects are transforming the urban paradigm, impacting walking experiences, helping to meet safety, equity and climate goals and attracting investment for urban development that supports walking.
