Portugal will host the 24th edition of the Walk21 Conference, the world’s most important conference dedicated to walking, will take place in Lisbon from October 14th to 18th, 2024.

The conference is organized by the Walk21 Foundation, the Institute for Mobility and Transport, the Project Group for Active Mobility, in partnership with Lisbon City Council, and has adopted the motto of the National Walking Strategy “Everybody Walks”.

These will be the main themes addressed at the Walk21Portugal Conference:

• Inclusion: Enabling everyone to be a pedestrian, regardless of gender, age, ability, income or background.
• Public Space: Offering safe, accessible, attractive and valued streets and public spaces.
• Climate Emergency: Investing in walking as a fundamental part of decarbonizing transport.
• Governance: Policies that, at all levels, put the pedestrian at the center.

All those interested are invited to take part in what will be an excellent opportunity to get to know the ideas and projects of international experts and enthusiasts in the fields of mobility, urban design and community development.
