On 14 November 2025, the Active Mobility Project Group (GPMA) of the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT), in partnership with CIVINET Iberia, held a meeting at the IMT premises in Lisbon dedicated to promoting active mobility and public transport. The initiative brought together representatives from Portuguese and Spanish municipalities, transport operators and higher education institutions, with the aim of sharing public policies, innovative projects and ongoing initiatives that reinforce sustainability and accessibility in the territories.
The session was opened by the President of the IMT, followed by presentations from CIVINET Iberia, GPMA-IMT, Carris, the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and the Ayuntamientos of Granada, Vila-Real and León. The Municipality of Lisbon presented the actions it has taken to promote pedestrianisation and conducted a technical visit to Avenida da República, highlighting solutions implemented to improve the pedestrian experience.
The meeting reinforced the importance of Iberian cooperation in building safer, more inclusive and sustainable cities, placing active mobility and public transport at the centre of mobility policies.
